Mission
Our mission is to create a world where aging does not limit the ability to hear, communicate, and connect – empowering individuals with knowledge, research, and solutions that enhance lifelong auditory and cognitive health. Through cutting-edge research, public engagement, diverse perspectives, and knowledge-sharing, we aim to:
-
Advance Scientific Discovery – Investigate the neural, perceptual, cognitive, and social aspects of auditory aging using state-of-the-art research approaches.
-
Bridge Science and Society – Translate research into actionable insights that help individuals, caregivers, and professionals navigate age-related hearing and cognitive challenges.
-
Foster Learning and Innovation – Provide open-access resources, training, and tools to empower researchers, students, and the public in auditory and cognitive health.
Core Values
Our mission is supported by core values:
-
Impact – We strive to make meaningful contributions that drive positive change to facilitate optimized aging.
-
Scientific Integrity – We are committed to rigorous, transparent, and ethical research that advances human understanding.
-
Accessibility – We believe knowledge should be open and available to all, driving inclusive research and education.
-
Awareness – We provide knowledge, tools, and resources that facilitate hearing health, cognitive health, and quality of life.
-
Collaboration – We engage with diverse stakeholders, including communities with lived experience, researchers, and industry partners to create meaningful impact.
-
Compassion – We approach our work with empathy, recognizing the profound effects of hearing loss and cognitive impairment on individuals and society.
Guiding Approach
We are dedicated to creating, nurturing, and sustaining a culture, where differences drive creative and innovative solutions to advance scientific discovery, train next generation scientists, and provide a welcoming environment for everyone.
We value diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives with the aim to empower all team members, colleagues, clients, and other people we work with to be their best self regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, socio-economic background, upbringing, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, political leanings, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
We believe an open and welcoming environment translates to higher motivation, creativity, innovation, productivity, and scientific progress and is key to drive transformative change for a world in which we can live productive and fulfilled lives as we age.
